About the Growth House Blogging Portal
The Growth House Blogging Portal features guest bloggers who have something to say about hospice care, palliative medicine, and how to get things done in healthcare systems. Together we can make a difference in the quality of compassionate care for people approaching the end of their lives. Several colleagues have been invited to participate in sharing their ideas and tips.
A first step in using these blogs effectively is to understand how they compare with the Professional Forum webboards we have provided for many years. You can see a feature comparison table in the Growth House Blogging FAQ.
We already have many electronic mailing lists at Growth House that also allow such sharing. Blogging is a different medium, however, and offers different opportunities. One of the benefits of blogging in this form is that all of the content becomes indexed on various web services that follow this blog such as Technorati and Google. This means that web searchers can find our blog content even if they have never heard of us. Our email lists, on the other hand, are intended for members of our existing community and they are not found via web searches.
Blogs can be syndicated, allowing other web sites to pick up their contents and republish them, just like syndicated news columns in the newspaper. This feature gives blogs the potential to become widely read. All of the blogs offered through the Growth House Blogging Portal are syndicated. You can subscribe to them or re-use their content on your own web site.
